Main Exhibition Area

The vibrant core of discovery at Science Center

The vibrant heart of discovery: over 200 interactive science installations!

The Main Exhibition Hall at Science Center is a vast arena of wonder spanning human biology, optical perception, standing acoustic waves, and electromagnetic forces. Step into an Ames room that bends reality, test your thermal signature with infrared sensors, and see sounds take physical form on vibrating metal plates.

Exhibition Highlights

  • The Ames Distorted Room optical perspective illusion
  • Full-body thermal imaging infrared camera wall
  • Chladni sound resonance plates visualizing pure harmonic acoustic modes
  • Magnetic ferrofluid displays dancing to dynamic magnetic fields

Hands-on Discovery Stations

A vast landscape of experiential learning where doing leads directly to understanding:

Ames Distorted Perspective Room

Step inside a trapezoidal room where forced optical perspective makes a small child appear toweringly taller than a grown adult.

Thermal Infrared Wall

Stand before sensitive thermographic sensors to view heat emission patterns across your face, clothing, and cool fingertips.

Chladni Sound Sand Plates

Adjust audio frequency dials to vibrate metal plates, causing fine sand to self-assemble into intricate geometric nodal lines.

Bernoulli Airflow Float

Balance beach balls in angled jets of fast-moving air and observe how surrounding atmospheric pressure holds them in place.

Scientific Principles & Phenomena

Encompasses fundamental principles across all STEM fields: optics, human perception, standing wave physics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism.

Stand in front of the thermal imaging camera to see how heat conducts through different materials. Touch metal, wood, and plastic at the exact same room temperature to understand why thermal conductivity makes cold metal feel significantly colder than insulating wood.

Did you know?

Your eyes don't just take photographs; your brain actively constructs a 3D model of reality based on depth cues. Optical illusions reveal the mental shortcuts and assumptions our vision relies upon every day!

Exhibit Highlights & History

The Main Exhibition Hall is Heureka's beating heart. It is continually renewed with fresh interactive stations designed by Heureka's in-house scientific exhibit workshop.
